Files and text you convert

Everything you paste, type or drop onto this site is processed locally by your browser. It is never uploaded, never stored on a server, and never seen by anyone but you.

When you close or reload the page, the contents are discarded from memory. There is no copy to delete because no copy was ever made.

What is stored on your device

Three small things are kept in your browser’s local storage so the site is more useful on your next visit:

• Your theme preference (light, dark or match my system).
• Converters you have marked as favourites.
• The last few converters you used, so they are easy to find again.

Clearing that data

It is stored only on your device and is never transmitted. Clearing your browser’s site data for this domain removes all of it immediately. The "Clear" button next to your recently used converters removes that list on its own.

Advertising

FileXtr is free to use and is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, which is a third party with its own privacy policy.

Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure whether ads work. Depending on your settings and location, those ads may be personalised using data Google has collected about you elsewhere on the web.

You can review and change what Google uses at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.

Your choices about advertising

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set, through a consent form certified by Google. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from the link in the site footer.

Declining personalised ads does not restrict any converter. Every tool works identically either way, and none of them stop working if you block ads entirely.

What advertising never sees

The files and text you convert are not part of any of this. They are processed in your browser and are never transmitted, so there is no mechanism by which an advertiser could receive them, and no page on this site sends their contents anywhere.

Ad targeting is based on the page you are viewing and on data Google already holds, never on what you paste into a converter.

Hosting and server logs

Pages are served as static files from a web host. Like virtually all web hosts, it records standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested path and user agent — for security and operational purposes. These logs contain no information about what you converted, because that information never reaches the server.

Optional accounts

There is no sign-in on the site today. If accounts are added in future to sync favourites across devices, they will be strictly optional, every converter will keep working without one, and this page will be updated before the feature ships.

Third parties

Google is the only third party involved, and only for advertising. It is bound by its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Nothing you convert is shared with anyone. No analytics provider, no error reporting service and no content delivery network sees your files, because your files never leave your browser in the first place.
